2008 Alphabet Soup – Speciality (Carson City): New York Bred Filly: 2yo for 2010
View Pedigree
Alphabet Soup is a direct result of classic Tartan Farm Breeding through both his sire (Cozzene) and his dam (Illiterate by Arts and Letters). He proved to be versatile enough to win Graded Stakes at multiple distances ranging from 7 to 10 furlongs. This gray warrior reached the plateau of American racing by winning the Grade 1 Breeders Cup Classic over World Champion Cigar.
He has proven to be a successful, useful stallion with his progeny making upwards of $30 million and siring 9% stake winners with two Grade 1 winners. His most successful horses have come from crossing with Mr. Prospector line mares.
With Speciality being by Top Ten Broodmare Sire Carson City (by Mr. Prospector) this filly falls right into the Alphabet Soup – Mr. Prospector nick discussed above.
Found in Speciality’s family is another Breeders Cup Classic winner in Concern. With Breeders Cup Classic winners on top and bottom of the pedigree, our filly’s blood lines show tremendous promise.
The first foal from Speciality was a filly by Include, she was well thought as a 2 year old, selling at Keenland’s 2yo In-Training Sale for $180,000. This filly was a modest winner before retiring to the breeding shed. The second foal, a 3 year old of 2009, named Grizzled Robert (by Aptitude) is the winner of 4 races over three different surfaces (Dirt, Synthetic and Turf). He was recently Graded Stakes Placed at Churchill Downs, pushing his career earnings to near $100,000 for the year.
Our chestnut filly is the third foal from Speciality. She is a February foal with tremendous size and scope for her young age. This athletic, well balanced filly has turned heads from day one.
This striking filly is currently being saddle broke in Ocala, Florida where she will remain to begin her early training.
