Investing in Thoroughbred Race Horses is a volatile investment at best. This is not for the conservative investor.  All prospective members are encouraged to voice their questions and concerns. We at Tri Kappa Thoroughbreds pride ourselves in answering any and all questions honestly.

    The value of a thoroughbred race horse fluctuates throughout its racing career. The horse’s value is determined by its perceived potential for success and later by his or hers performance. As well as, the expected performance in future races. An important variable to consider when evaluating the career of a racehorse and future performance is the animal’s ability to hold up to the daily training regime and can they remain healthy.

   At Tri Kappa Thoroughbreds, our investment strategy is to build into each members share the cost of the first year’s expenses. Our goal is to ensure that as the horse begins its racing career at age two years of age; its purse earning will at a minimum cover the horse’s annual operating expenses. These estimates for monthly operating expense are outlined below:

** Assumes the horse is trained on the racetrack for the whole year. In most cases, horses are turned out for rest at training centers where the monthly fees are less expensive.

    K-1 Tax Forms are provided in the early spring for the previous years earnings or loses. Checking with your tax advisor first, in many cases you are able to write off an investment loss against any personal income.

   Each group set up by Tri Kappa Thoroughbreds is place within an LLC. You will receive full membership privledges once the Operating Agreement is signed and your share fee is paid. Shares are sold in 2.5% increments.
